I am a little confused on this: Was this consecration because relics of St. Joseph were inserted in the altar. I thought the church was consecrated long before this when it was bought.
thank you for replying
This is the consecration by a bishop. Churches are not usually consecrated by a bishop from the very beginning. Churches have opening prayers called “thyranoixia” when they first start serving. In this case, we consecrated the temple after the mortgage was paid off. If a temple is not consecrated there must be holy relics in the antimension. When it is consecrated, the relics are placed in the Holy table and sealed. They were not the relics of St. Joseph but 3 different relics from 3 martyrs as prescribed.
