Our times are wicked and difficult! However, the forty Holy Martyrs of Sebaste that we celebrate call us to carry the present times like true soldiers of Christ – courageously and with the joy of the coming good things. Otherwise, we aren’t Christians are we?
“‘The winter is bitter but Paradise is sweet’ the Holy Martyrs were saying to one another” also states the hymnographer. We live this bitter winter with the joyous expectation of the good things of Paradise.
