Symeon of Thessalonica writes that the Divine Liturgies which are the awesome sacrifice should be made after the sinner has come to repentance. Otherwise, the particle offered for the one who is totally dedicated to sin will be to his condemnation. Just like the one who unworthily communes brings condemnation unto himself according to the Apostle Paul, so does the one who unworthily offers up a sacrifice without repentance mocks God and the Saints.
