Four Things to Do if Someone Speaks Evil Against You

From the teachings of Abba Barsanuphius

One of the brethren asked Abba Barsanuphius, “Elder, what should I do if I learn that someone speaks evil of me?”
And the Elder responded,
1. Stand up immediately.
2. Say a prayer first for the one who slanders you.
3. And then a prayer for yourself.
4. Saying, “Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on my brother (….) and on me your vile servant, and protect us from the evil one, through the prayers of your Saints. Amen!”
