Chirping Away as they Happily Perish!
Based on a comment from a different post
As Christians, Christ calls us through the blaring voice of the Apostle of the Nations Paul saying,
“That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world.” (Philippians 2:15)
Our joy, our cause for jubilation, is that although we struggle to stand “in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation”, we are happy to be almost alone but with Christ.
Today, most people (and this goes for many who actually see that World “Orthodoxy” isn’t Orthodoxy at all but don’t budge from their stance) want to be with the many. They seek fans on their supposed journey to the divine. They have forgotten that the road to eternal life is narrow and rocky and dusty.
“What then can we do but weep? For hardly is a small portion of the world in the way of salvation, and they who are perishing hear it, and rejoice that they are not destined to suffer alone, but in company with numbers. But what cause is this for joy? That very joy will subject them to punishment. For do not think that it is there as here, that to have companions in suffering affords consolation.” –
St. John Chrysostom, I Timothy Homily X
