Ingredients
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 g tahini
- 300 g sugar (you can reduce slightly if you like)
- 400 ml water or fresh orange juice (orange juice gives better flavor)
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla (optional)
- Zest of 1 orange (optional but very nice)
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 180ยฐC.
- In a large bowl, mix the tahini + sugar until smooth.
- Add the water or orange juice slowly and mix well.
- Dissolve the baking soda in a little orange juice (or water) and add it in.
- In another bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir until combined (do not overmix).
- Add vanilla and orange zest if using.
- Pour into a lined or lightly greased pan (you can use a little tahini to grease it).
- Bake for 45โ55 minutes, until a toothpick comes out clean.
Notes
- Tahini replaces oil completely, so no extra fat is needed.
- If the batter feels too thick, add a little more liquid.
- You can add raisins or chopped walnuts if you like.
