A Hidden Saint for Our Times: Announcing the Life & Akathist Hymn of St. Panaretos of Paphos

It is with joy that we share something new with you today—a spiritual treasure that we hope will be a source of encouragement for us all.
Many of us are familiar with the great saints of the Orthodox Church, but what about the saints who lived in times much like our own? Times of spiritual dryness and turmoil?
We are so pleased to introduce you to a saint you may not have met before: Our Father Among the Saints, Panaretos, the All-Virtuous Bishop of Paphos in Cyprus, who reposed in the Lord in 1791.
His life is a powerful and direct confirmation that the grace of God has not abandoned His Church, and that true, desert-dwelling sanctity is possible even in the midst of the world.
A New True Orthodox Translation & Akathist
For centuries, this moving account of St. Panaretos’s life has been preserved in the cherished Greek collection of saints’ lives, the Eklogion. To our knowledge, a complete and faithful translation of this particular life has never been made available in English.
Therefore, we have laboured to produce the first complete English translation of this life prepared by and for True Orthodox Christians. This is not a modern retelling; it is a careful rendering of the classic 1869 edition, allowing you to encounter this incredible saint through the reverent words of our pious forefathers.
This volume also includes a beautiful, newly-composed Akathist Hymn to St. Panaretos. This hymn, compiled by the Sacred Monastery of St. John of the Ladder in Boetia, Greece, is a True Orthodox composition, providing us with a safe and fitting way to entreat this great wonderworker for his holy intercessions.
In the astonishing Life of this humble hierarch, you will discover:
- How he lived like a desert father while serving as a bishop in a city.
- The discovery of the heavy iron chain he wore secretly upon his flesh.
- The account of his God-given foresight, where he foreknew the arrival of a specific ship bearing his confessor.
- His first posthumous miracle: the instantaneous healing of a paralytic man who touched his bier.
It is our hope that this account will strengthen your faith and inspire you to good works.
